In recent years there has been a shift in mindset away from integration, to one where it is now recognised that to ensure a fully inclusive education system, the environment needs to change, not the child. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) aims to eliminate barriers and ensure that education is accessible for all learners. There is limited research into UDL in action, within Irish primary schools. This article explores the experiences of primary school teachers from three different settings. Teachers designed their lessons and environment through a UDL lens, reflecting on their practice and identifying potential benefits or challenges that were encountered. Overall, this study revealed that the benefits experienced far outweigh any challenges experienced.
