Abstract

This short paper discusses my personal experiences in teaching over a decade now and how I have unconsciously applied the principles in the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) from the basic school level and now as a university faculty. I offer a window into my personal life and why I wholehearted support the overarching purpose of the UDL framework that advocates the multimodality of learning environments fueled by multiple forms of representation, processing and motivation. It opens a dialogue on how the principles could be actualized in the classroom setting using my personal teaching experiences. Also, I share relevant tips from the UDL workshop that all teachers must know. I contend that the diversity of student-learning and thinking styles call for plurality in the presentation and assessment of learned content to maximize their learning outcomes and general development.
