Abstract

There is a unique need in people who function within the autistic spectrum to learn the meaning of communication. Teachers need to develop an approach that makes the meaning of developmentally early interactions explicit. By applying careful functional analyses one can look for ways of inputing communicative interest so that the learner is taught ‘how to mean'.
