Abstract

Bíonn dúshláin le sárú ag foghlaimeoirí a bhfuil disléicse orthu agus an dara teanga (T2) á foghlaim acu mar thoradh ar an gciall a bhaineann a n-inchinn as an teanga agus ar an bpróiseáil a dhéanann a n-inchinn ar an stór focal. Sa staidéar seo, féachadh ar éispéiris daltaí ar Ghaeilge a fhoghlaim mar T2 i mbunscoileanna lán-Ghaeilge agus Béarla i bPoblacht na hÉireann. Rinneadh agallaimh leathstruchtúrtha le ceathrar daoine fásta óga (fochéimithe idir 19 mbliana agus 22 bhliain d’aois) a bhfuil disléicse orthu, agus rinne siad machnamh ar an taithí a bhí acu féin ar Ghaeilge a fhoghlaim mar T2 sa bhunscoil. Léiríonn na torthaí go raibh éispéiris chomhchosúla ag foghlaimeoirí a bhfuil disléicse orthu i scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge agus i scoileanna Béarla. Ba chaolchúiseach éispéiris na bhfoghlaimeoirí sin agus iad ag gabháil d’fhoghlaim T2, agus cuimsíodh iontu dúshláin chognaíocha agus mhothúchánacha chomh maith le láidreachtaí ar fud na foghlama teanga, mar shampla úsáid straitéisí díchódaithe. Léirigh na torthaí an tábhacht a bhaineann leis an acmhainneacht san oideachas – dearcthaí dearfacha i leith na Gaeilge agus dáimh phearsanta léi. Ba thréith thábhachtach í an bhuanseasmhacht i measc na bhfoghlaimeoirí sin freisin, mar chuir an bhuanseasmhacht ar a gcumas dóibh an T2 a fhoghlaim agus a úsáid d’ainneoin na ndúshlán ó thaobh teanga agus litearthachta de atá ag gabháil leis an disléicse.
